Seiko's first pocket watch homage

This model pays homage to the layout of Seiko's first pocket watch, the Timekeeper, which Seiko completed in 1895, and incorporated it into the dial design. The shape of the hands and the placement of the indexes have been carefully calculated to ensure outstanding visibility. By using a new minute rail around the outer periphery of the dial scale, the model has been updated to give it an elegant feel. Furthermore, the plump, thick gold Roman numerals, sub-dial at 6 o'clock, and matte-finished hands of the same color maximize the contrast with the black lacquer dial, creating a luxurious look reminiscent of Kanazawa lacquerware and Kaga maki-e.

Lacquer dial that draws you in

A tasteful lacquer dial that is created by applying multiple layers of natural lacquer collected from lacquer trees and polishing it until it has a mirror-like shine, giving it a deep and glossy look unique to lacquer. It has a deep luster that is even the origin of the word "jet black," giving it a unique personality. The lacquer applied to the dial has to have a beautiful luster, but at a thickness that does not interfere with the movement of the hands, so each piece is hand-worked and checked by craftsmen. The entire process takes about three weeks and takes time to create a beautiful lacquer dial. In addition, since lacquer continues to harden without solidifying, it does not deteriorate and its durability continues to increase semi-permanently, so it will be a shining companion on your arm for a long time. The inner surface of the glass that covers the dial is coated with a non-reflective coating that suppresses the reflection of light, highlighting the beauty of the lacquer.

Highly textured cowhide strap

What makes the glossy jet black lacquer stand out is the high-quality black cowhide leather strap. We use leather produced by a tannery certified by LWG (Leather Working Group) (*). The four gold stitches that match the color of the indexes and hands create a sense of unity between the dial and strap. The one-push three-fold method allows you to use it without damaging the leather every time you put it on or take it off.
